Besides the history, Lagoinha Ruins preserves a enchanting beauty where the vegetation took over a construction, a set of historical patrimony, architectural and natural heritage, where was the headquarters of a farm belonged to the family of Captain Romualdo, producer of coffee and sugar cane. There are still parts and objects left by the former inhabitants as vestiges of rocks on the place, that still possesses a rare type of stone, the iron stone. The trail to the waterfall of the farm is considered easy to moderate and does not take an hour to go all over the place, every 20 meters has a natural pool each with its particularity, an invitation for a relaxing and energizing bath. TAMAR PROJECT

The name TAMAR is a contraction of the words Tartaruga (turle) and Marinha (marine), necessary in the early 1980s to make the small metal plates used for the identification of the turtles by the Project, for biometric studies, to follow migratory routes and other actions. Ubatuba was the first base created by Tamar in a feeding habitat in the Brazilian coast, monitoring the incidental capture of sea turtles in fishing nets and floating enclosures. Project teams attend the calls of fishermen to mark and release the captured animals, and teach techniques to reanimate those drowned because trapped in the net and unable to rise to the surface to breathe. With the help of fishermen, community and tourists, sick, wounded and debilitated turtles in need of special care are taken to the Rehabilitation Center at the base where they are treated, recovered and released back to the sea.
